We are accepting limited food and toiletry donations. We are asking that groups or individuals wanting to donate please choose one item to collect (like a soup drive or a peanut butter drive). We do not currently have the room or the volunteers to sort through a donation of random items.
All donations are tax deductible as permitted by law. Open Hands Food Pantry has been designated as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Documentation verifying this status is available upon request.
Please be aware that in many cases we are able to get more food for our clients with monetary donations to Open Hands than with food donations. The donated money can buy more food through Gleaners and our other suppliers. During this coronavirus outbreak, it is better for safety reasons for us to buy food rather than to accept food and packages that have been handled by several people.
A list of our many donor organizations can be found HERE.
Christmas Toy Drive for Open Hands Food Pantry:
Open Hands will distribute gifts to children (age 0 – 12): We are usually most in need of items for pre-teen boys and baby dolls with all skin tones. Board books are wonderful for little ones.
Online shopping: A wishlist can be found on Amazon (use the button below) but you are welcome to purchase and donate anything at all and ship the items directly to St. John’s (26998 Woodward Ave, Royal Oak, MI 48067). PLEASE MAKE PURCHASES on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), and select "Open Hands Food Pantry, Royal Oak MI" as your charity of choice. Once you set this up, for eligible purchases made through AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will automatically donate 0.5% of the purchase price to Open Hands Food Pantry. The donation will be made at no extra cost to you.
Drop off in person: You can also drop your toys in the office at St. John’s Episcopal Church (26998 Woodward, Royal Oak – 11 Mile and Woodward) on M-W or F between 10am and 4pm, or by appointment before December 16.
